Agriculture Academy

Cordova High Schools Agriculture Academy gives students with an interest in agriculture opportunities to learn and grow. FFA, or Future Farmers of America, is a dynamic youth organization that prepares students for leadership and careers in the agriculture industry. Through hands-on experiences, competitions, and community service initiatives, FFA members develop essential skills and teamwork, communication, and problem solving while fostering a deep appreciation for agriculture and its role in society. With a rich history spanning almost 100 years, FFA empowers young people to become confident leaders who are passionate about sustainable agriculture and shaping the future of their communities.

Unique among educational entities, agricultural education consists of a three-pronged learning model designed to engage and educate all types of students. From rigorous classroom instruction to applied hands-on experience in agriculture and character development through involvement in FFA, the whole-person approach to the agricultural education system continues to lead the way and impact students throughout the Golden State.
Some SAE projects that students are working on include raising livestock (rabbits, chickens, goats, pigs, etc) for fair, working at Soil Born Farms, planting crops in their garden at home, and other creative experiments like comparing bug spray! Cordova FFA members have proved that you can still be knowledgeable and passionate about agriculture even in an urban community!

Having active career development event teams and leadership development opportunities is a cornerstone of the Cordova Agriculture Academy. We have top 5 in state winning teams in Forestry and Agronomy. Both teams travel throughout the year all over the state of California to compete at colleges demonstrating skills that are used in industry. Besides winning awards, students are given a chance to learn real industry skills, network with industry professionals and travel! Cordova also has active speaking event participants. Students are all given a chance to show off their public speaking skills throughout the year at contest. Afraid of public speaking? No problem! Our advisor and leadership team will help you learn the ins and outs of successful public speaking so you can conquer that fear! A person who can speak in front of a room and command the room. FFA also offers over a million dollars in scholarships annually and all entrepreneurship SAE projects earn students money to pay for college.
