Middle Years Programme

Cordova High School is proud to deliver the final two years (9th and 10th grades) of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme since May 2015.

The MYP aims to develop students who are:

Active learners
Internationally minded
Able to empathize with others
Have the intellect and skills to pursue lives of purpose and meaning.

As part of the IB continuum, the MYP is designed to help students develop the characteristics of the IB learner profile.

All 9th and 10th grade students at Cordova High School are MYP students.

10th Grade Personal Project

MYP students in their final year explore an area of personal interest over an extended period. It provides them the opportunity to consolidate their learning and develop important skills they’ll need in both further education and life beyond the classroom. It also helps them develop confidence to become principled, lifelong learners.

Assessment & Grading

Students in 9th and 10th grade MYP classes are evaluated through their performance on summative assessments based on their demonstration of academic mastery at the end of a unit of study. Teachers provide feedback on formative tasks to guide student focus towards areas of growth and study.

Behavior feedback is provided using citizenship grades and parent contacts as needed.
